Osteria Lume · Wood fired · Rockville Center
We cook over fireand close late.
One room, one oven, and a short list that changes when the market does. Pasta rolled the same afternoon you eat it. Come at six with your kids or at ten on your own.
The room
Loud enough to relax in.
The oven is the first thing you see and the last thing we turn off. It runs at six hundred degrees from four in the afternoon, and everything that comes out of it goes straight across the pass, so the walk from fire to table is about nine feet.
There are twenty eight seats and eight at the bar. We do not take a booking for fewer than four, because the small tables turn fast and we would rather you walked in. If it is full when you arrive, have a drink at the bar and we will find you something.

On the menu every night
Cacio e Pepe $21
Rolled at four, three ingredients, no shortcuts and no cream.
The list changes when the market does. Whatever is not on it tonight was on it last week.
A few reasons to come back
Sunday
Sunday Supper
One menu, four courses, one long table down the middle of the room. Two seatings, five and eight.
Tuesday
Pasta and a Glass
Any pasta on the list and a glass of whatever we are pouring, for less than either costs alone.
Late
After Nine Thirty
The bar menu opens up and the kitchen sends out whatever is left. Sit down and see.

Walk ins
We hold the eight bar seats every night. If the room is full when you arrive, start there and we will move you when something opens.
Booking
We take a table for four or more. Anything smaller, just come. The small tables turn fast and you will not wait long.
Getting here
Street parking on Maple Row is free after six. There is a lot behind the block if the street is full.
From Craft & Site
I made this one up.
Osteria Lume is not a real restaurant and this is not a live site. I built it to show what I would do with an evening room, one oven and a short menu. The dishes are invented, the photography is stock chosen to suggest a feeling, and nothing here can be booked.
The menu at the top of this page is real, though. Those three tabs work, and there is no JavaScript behind them, so there is no plugin to update and nothing that can quietly break. That is the part I would want you to judge me on.
